ROADSTER CAP

In 1973 I designed the Roadster Cap. Its pattern is the most complex I’ve been challenged with for making a three-dimensional idea into an integrated set of flat pattern pieces. The Roadster cap shown is made of thin tooling calfskin and was a size 8, which is quite large. I've since stripped it apart to reduce it to a smaller size, but the leather is too thin for large, full-size hats or caps. It looks crinkled. I’ll slit it down into half-inch-wide braided ring strips, or cut out more miniatures.
